NEW CLUB COACH WANTED

Mount Maunganui Cricket Club are on the hunt for a new coach to lead our club program.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a Cricket Club whose mission is to provide an inclusive cricket experience with clear and effective pathways for the advancement of its stakeholders, all within an environment of fun and enjoyment. 

The Mount Maunganui Cricket Club is in search of a new coach that can lead and facilitate our senior training sessions. lead the junior coaching force and in particular weekly training sessions with our senior college teams.

The successful candidate will be a passionate cricket coach who will be integral to the ongoing success and evolution of our pathway. This will mean committing to working alongside a strong player pool and liaising with the Clubs committee. 

 

Coach’s role and responsibility:

  • Facilitate senior training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30 to 7.30pm.
  • Provide a coaching plan for committee and team captain review prior to the season.
  • Ensure club-wide training evenings are planned for all attendees, adaptable from 10 – 40 people including providing a suitable mixture of structures (fielding, nets, skills, drills etc.).
  • Be the point of call to help parent coaches with ideas and structure to their training and games.

 

Important Skills/Attributes:

You will have some hands-on experience coaching cricketers at different levels and a sound technical and tactical knowledge of cricket, however you do not need to come with coaching accreditation. 

To really succeed in this role, you need to have a love of cricket and coaching others to be their best. 

 

This role requires someone who: 

  • Has good initiative and can act proactively; 
  • Has an ability to communicate effectively;
  • Relates well to others, builds and manages key relationships;
  • Is energetic and enthusiastic;
  • Is a self-starter with a can-do attitude;
  • Is calm under pressure;
  • Is able to cater for different stages of cricket ability.

This is an opportunity to work with one of the largest cricket clubs in the Bay of Plenty who pride themselves in providing opportunities to developing players while remaining competitive. 

You'll be working with players who have experience at First Class level and also young prospects who are hard working and hungry to make a difference. 

This role will be fixed for the months of October to March, requiring around 10 hours a week in total on-ground coaching plus preparation time and will be across senior and junior clubs.  The role will be remunerated to reflect the skills and qualifications of the chosen candidate.

There is opportunity around further hours to coach juniors during the week or on one off muster days that can be discussed. For the right candidate, we are happy to discuss moving and transport assistance.
